Adult Sunday School Teacher
Servant Role

Go back to the Opportunities list

Ministry Area: Adult Discipleship
Description:

Sunday school teachers need a love for people and the Bible combined with teaching ability. This ability could be expressed in one of several teaching styles – some people may best at teach from a lecture format, while others may be more comfortable using discussion groups, for example. First Church strongly encourages use of technology in some Sunday schools – for example, computers or video – so being technologically adept also may be helpful. Of course, one also needs to be able to build community in a class.

Training: Mostly, on the job or what has been acquired through life experience. Pastors and staff are available to help Sunday school teachers develop a better understanding of their materials, particularly as lessons relate to Scripture or theology.
Days/Hours of Service: 9:50 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Sundays. (Please also allow time during the week for lesson preparation.)
Location for Serving: In a Sunday school room located in one of the church buildings.
Qualifications
Regular attendance is critically important for all Sunday school teachers.
