Adult
leadership position working with youth – options include working with
Mid High age group (grades 6 – 8) or Senior High age group (grades 9 –
12). Youth
Counselors participate in UMYF alongside the youth, including eating
dinner, attending worship (combined Mid High & Senior High ages), and
lessons (often separated into Mid High & Senior High age groups,
although some combined lessons).
Youth Counselors choose level of leadership – leading lessons,
leading worship devotional, other involvement.
Youth
Counselors are encouraged to establish same-sex mentoring relationships
with 2-3 youth in which Counselors spend time with the youth outside of
UMYF activities; this time can be in person, over the phone, over the
Internet or through cards/other correspondence.
