Description:

Adult leadership position assisting in leadership development in student leaders at varying levels based on servant leadership modeled by Christ. Includes working with Mid High youth (grades 6 – 8) in uncovering leadership potential, gifts, and talents, and working with Senior High youth (grades 9 – 12) in leadership training through encouraging as well as modeling servant leadership.

Training: Prefer to work with someone with leadership experience, but willing to train adult leaders who have hearts for youth and desire to mentor youth in Christian faith. Training will include growth group membership and retreat atmospheres.
Days/Hours of Service: Wednesday evenings from 6 – 7 p.m.; although there may be times when activities run from 6 – 8 p.m. (specifically, off-site hands-on ministry trips).  Also includes mini-retreat sessions once a month (typically on Sunday afternoons before UMYF)
Location for Serving: Primarily at the Church; may include trips to off-site locations for hands-on ministry.
Qualifications
Must have a heart for youth and a desire to mentor youth in Christian faith. Youth Counselors are not expected to act like the teens they mentor but to love the teens they mentor when they act like teens. All Youth Counselors must undergo routine background check before beginning work with the Youth.
