ServantHood
Do you hear God calling you? Well . .
. He is!!! The ServantHood is based on Philippians 2:5-11 which tells us
to have the same attitude as Jesus. The ServantHood is for anyone who
wants to live like Jesus did: as servant. The ServantHood is a
way for you to use your special gifts and time to serve each other. It is
a way for you to really walk the walk. So . . . how do you get
involved? Just get an application, fill it out, and return it
to the youth office.

Scouting
Boy
Scout Troop 1789 was chartered by First United Methodist Church in
November,
1999. The troop follows the B.S.A.-supported concept of boy
leadership
under direct supervision and guidance of trained adult leaders. A
Senior
Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader are elected by the
boys
each year. Currently, there are three patrols within Troop 1789:
Panther,
Tiger, and Dragon. Typically, 6-8 boys make up a patrol, and each
group
has its own leader and assistant leader. These small units within the
troop
are responsible for preparing themselves for outdoor adventure,
including
camping, service projects and other community activities. Ted Walker serves as Scoutmaster, along with the following Assistant
Scoutmasters:
Danny Walsh, Brian Hughes, Brett Spear, Pat Fitzwater, Kim
Walker,
Tim Wisner, and Mike Nantz. Dave Riggins is Chartered Organization Representative;
David Turner serves as Troop Committee Chairman. Serving on the Troop
Committee are: Gene Berrill, David Bratcher, Richard Dorton, Lincoln Baker,
and Bill Witt.
Troop
1789 has earned the National Quality Unit award in each year of its
existence,
meeting various requirements, including training and program
activities.
Outdoor adventure is a must for Troop 1789, with camping
activities
planned each month throughout the year, including week-long
summer
camp at the Bluegrass Council's McKee Reservation near Mount
Sterling.
Troop
1789 meets on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in Room 14, in the basement of
the church. Boys ages 11-17 are eligible to join.
