With the purchase of 11 acres of land and an
8,000+ sq. ft. church building in the Andover neighborhood of Lexington,
First Church saw the early beginnings of its multi-campus vision.
After many years and much prayer, those who were committed to being in
ministry in Andover believed that forming a worshipping congregation was
where God was leading our church. But it was more
than just purchasing land and buying a building--it was sharing the best of
who we are, and who we have been as a people since 1789.
Our legacy and history is "downtown for good," meaning we
have chosen to stay located in downtown Lexington because that's where our
history of worship and mission has been. It's also where we can do
good--downtown.
But also from our downtown home base, we can go beyond our
walls, reinvent ourselves, and begin ministries and congregations to
minister in other neighborhoods--anywhere there is a need. |
